Huper Optik vs. LLumar Tint: Choose Wisely!

What’s the best tint for your car? I wish I had a simple answer to that question! There are loads of variables to contemplate and brands to choose from. When you get to the research, it’s normal to feel overwhelmed by the wealth of choices you will find in front of you.

In this article, the discussion will be strictly focused on Huper Optik vs. LLumar. I won’t talk about any other brands, nor will I give you a potential third option. If you have narrowed down your range of alternatives between these two brands, this write-up could help you take the final step.

Huper Optik vs. LLumar

Like most premium automotive tint offerings, LLumar and Huper Optik have diversified their product range. You will find budget-friendly films that do half-decent jobs of filtering the outside light and enhancing the look of your car. But if you are prepared to spill the cash, you will find way more exciting options in their catalogs.

It won’t be fair if we don’t compare the best of both worlds. So, I have handpicked two tints after doing a considerable level of groundwork to represent these two brands. I nominated the X3 range of ceramic and nano-ceramic films to carry the Huper Optik torch, while the LLumar Formula One Stratos Ceramic Tint will go to bat for LLumar.

Heat Reduction

The TSER (Total Solar Energy Rejection) ratings of these two tints are pretty similar. In the LLumar Formula One Stratos, you get 59% TSER. With Huper Optik X3, you get slightly more (60%). But, the 1% higher TSER does not make a significant difference.

On the same day, I drove a car with the X3 tint on while my friend took his car with LLumar Stratos tint for a spin. We both changed cars after half an hour. We drove under the Texas sun in July between 12 PM and 2 PM. You won’t get in much hotter environments than that in the US.

So, what was my experience? I felt both tints did a decent job of keeping the car cool. I forgot to look at the thermostat, so I can’t tell you precisely how different the temperature was. But I didn’t feel any difference switching cars. In the end, that’s what matters, right? If you feel comfy in both, is there any point in picking winners and losers?

Regardless, I’ll declare Huper Optik the winner of this round. It’s a narrow win but a good start for Huper Optik. We’ll see whether or not LLumar can cut the deficit later.

UV Rejection

My personal experience says you get somewhat the same level of UV protection from all premium tints. This is one feature the brands refuse to make any compromises to, and I totally appreciate that.

Prolonged UV exposure can lead to sunburn, reduced vision, and even skin cancer. Thankfully, both tints block 99% of UV rays, and they do it with minimal signal interference. You can expect your mobile phones to have normal cell reception when you are behind the windows.

So, this is a stalemate.

Sun Glare

Minimizing sun glare should be a priority because it could distract drivers on the road and cause severe accidents. LLumar lands the decisive punch here. The Stratos 30 has an overall glare reduction rate of 65%. X3 30 lags pretty far behind, as it can offer only a 54% glare reduction.

1-1!

LLumar

Clarity

Even though these tints have the same level of tint percentage, they don’t allow the same amount of light in. Stratos 30 actually permits 32% light entrance, while the X3 30 lets 31% of available light in.

So, technically, you should see better through LLumar tints. To be honest, this is not an easily discernible difference. The clarity feels almost the same. If I ask you to take a blind test, I’m confident that you won’t be able to tell them apart.

Anyways, it’s another win for LLumar. It came from behind to take the lead! 2-1!

Warranty

Huper Optik and LLumar have similar warranties. They both provide lifetime warranties, but you need to be registered in their database to claim them. The installation has to be done professionally as well.

So, it’s a tie.

Final Opinion

LLumar gets a marginal win in the Huper Optik vs. LLumar debate, but again, I must point out that both of these tints are more similar to each other than different. So, you can’t go wrong either way.
